If you’re a fan of Tolkien, Lewis, or Rowling, the History Bites tour is an absolute must. Our guide, Solomon, brought unparalleled knowledge and passion to every aspect of the experience. His biographical storytelling was captivating and his attention to detail was extraordinary. He was always responsive to questions and went above and beyond to make the experience unforgettable. There were times on the trip where Solomon made me feel like a close friend of the authors, immersing us in the places that shaped them into the literary giants they are. The accommodations were exceptional. We stayed in top-notch hotels, ate at great restaurants, and traveled on the most comfortable charter bus I’ve ever been on. Solomon made the whole trip effortless and ensured we experienced the best of each location visited. It was a truly remarkable trip and an experience I will cherish forever.

This was an absolutely amazing experience! I have to admit this trip was completely my husband‘s idea. He is a HUGE J.R.R. Tolkien fan, so I was just going along for the ride but Solomon made this a trip I will never forget. He was so warm and welcoming starting on day one that by the end of the week I felt like I was saying goodbye to a lifelong friend. Every day was thoughtfully planned out and full of wonderful sites, food and accommodations. He filled me with knowledge of the 3 authors that gave me a new appreciation for all their works. If you are even a small fan of any of their books you will absolutely love this tour.

When I take my own personal trips, I am an over planner and like to make sure everything is well planned out. Solomon alleviated all my worries during this trip as he took care of every little detail, including transportation, tickets to see different sites, along with a beautiful narration that was well researched. The particular tour I went on was about the three authors, JRR Tolkien, CS Lewis, and JK Rowling. I consider myself a huge Tolkien fan and listening to Solomon‘s narration about Tolkien was enjoyable and at times even evoked emotion in me that brought a tear to my eye. While I wasn’t as interested in the other authors, Solomon still made all the information enjoyable and brought out some common themes that made this tour cohesive and allowed me to learn many things along the way. Solomon also selected excellent sites to visit that made the tour impressive even if you were not interested in the authors.

This was a great guided tour that led to an unforgettable experience. We had a knowledgeable guide, who was well informed about our destination, the history, the culture, and the hidden gems…His delivery was not a recitation of facts, but a story told by a storyteller…the comfort and convenience was at the highest level. The seating in the buses was wide and comfortable. The reclining seats made the overall experience that much better. The passion and enthusiasm that Solomon exhibited regarding the subject matter inspired the same feelings in the participants, making the tour enjoyable. If you’d like to travel and see the entire UK, from London, all the way to the beaches of Scotland, and want to learn about the history and hit all the highlights, this is the tour for you.

The most organized, safe, well accommodated, and fun tour I have ever taken! Days were filled with incredible sites, excellent food, and enough time to enjoy each place. Met new friends, scholars, and guides that were exceptionally knowledgeable on the three authors we centered on. I do recommend this tour for anyone who seeks to enhance their knowledge library of Tolkien, Rowling, and Lewis. Solomon is a natural born orator and his love and knowledge of these authors will enhance anyone’s education (new to the books or those like myself who have thrived on them for years). This tour was such an experience, it’s hard to put into words. I can sum it up in one, though: amazing. I went into this tour as blind as possible, and I left with such a deep appreciation for not only these authors that I love, but also for a new culture and a sense of fantasy and wonder. You see so much, and I’m glad they allowed time to just exist in these places without feeling overly rushed Something else I appreciate is the freedom to just go explore what’s out there – you’re not in a singular location for too long, and when you touch down, it’s so worth it to get your bearings and just go explore! That route not only gave me the experience of learning from Solomon, but also just doing it my way and being an explorer and making my own story in a new place. I took this trip with my best friend, and I definitely can say it’s the greatest adventure we could’ve gone on this far. I highly recommend it!

This trip far exceeded my expectations. Solomon was extremely knowledgeable. Although my interest was mostly in J.R.R. Tolkien, I found that the more I learned about the other authors, the more captivated I was by their stories as well. The trip was so well put together, and information was so on point. One of the best vacations I’ve ever had! Breathtaking countryside and beautiful architecture. Everywhere I looked, there was something more impressive and amazing to see! Our tour guide leader, Solomon, was intelligent, well spoken, and kind. Learning about the rich history of the UK and about Lewis, Tolkien, and Rowling‘s lives was fascinating! Solomon did an incredible job organizing and leading this tour! We saw a variety of sites, ranging from stunning cliffs to old cathedrals to the homes of two of the most famous fictional writers of our day. There was enough planned where I didn’t get bored, but also enough downtime so I got to do and experience other things on my own. We stayed in some of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever been in, which just added to the whole experience. Great food, great company, great tour! I would highly recommend!

This trip was a dream come true for me! The whole experience was well organized, and each location was thoughtfully picked. Each place we visited had smooth access and everything was easy. The restaurants especially got us in, handled our group size well, and provided amazing food! Restaurants and tour locations were all great picks. Going into this I had some fear our hands would be held the entire time. Thankfully there was plenty of time for roaming both during the tour itself and within each day afterward. History Bites did a superb job balancing tour and exploration. Solomon was educational and fun! I learned plenty of new and interesting things about the authors and locations we were visiting. Overall, the entire event was well worth the price! I would go on another in a heartbeat!
