My goal with History Bites® is to provide people of all ages with an accurate, fun, and engaging way to learn about people and events from history.

The History Bites® book series was written to help children learn and remember basic facts of history in a way that inspires them to learn more. I sincerely hope that these books help to instill people with a passion for history and a desire to keep exploring it.

As a historian, I believe my job is to report, not interpret, historical facts, and I have done my best to write accurately so that anyone can enjoy and benefit from the books.

Learn history in a fun and easy way!
Solomon’s books help educate people of all ages about U.S. and world history.

History Bites® is an educational book series written by Solomon Schmidt. It includes five books that overview hundreds of fascinating people and events from United States and world history in a fun and easy-to-read format. The first book is U.S. History Bites, which covers thirty major events of American history from Columbus to modern day. Solomon’s second work, U.S. Presidential History Bites, complements the first book very well and is jam-packed with interesting facts on the lives and leadership of all forty-five American presidents.

Also in the History Bites® Series: In/Famous People History Bites Volumes 1 & 2. Together, these books take readers on a riveting journey through almost 3,000 years of world history, exploring the lives of 100 major figures: 50 famous (or infamous) people in each volume, covering from early B.C. times to modern day. Though separate books, these two volumes are meant to be read as one combined work that gives children (and adults!) a fascinating History Bites® look at the wonders of world history.

The final books in the series, The Life & Works of J.R.R. Tolkien History Bites and The Life & Works of C.S. Lewis History Bites, sprang out of Solomon’s passion for The Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia and a fascination with the men behind the writings. Solomon’s two books are unique biographies of Tolkien and Lewis geared toward children. Along with an overview of each of the man’s life, the books also include synopses of Tolkien’s and Lewis’s main works with original artwork by L.B. Dugan.
